Why Are The Vampires In Twilight Gorgeous?

I know their faces are intended to “attract” prey. But what’s the use of it if they don’t feed on human’s blood? And is it just a coincidence that the people whom Carlisle transformed into vampires are all gorgeous?

It’s explained in the books actually.
They’re meant to attract human prey. It’s only Carlisle’s coven (and one other coven in Alaska) that don’t drink human blood. All the other vampires do, so it makes sense that they need to attract human prey.
I don’t think it’s meant be be coincidental that Carlisle’s whole coven is good looking. After all, something had to attract him to them, in order for him to want to turn them. Not ALL vampires are gorgeous though. The books describe James as being rather average looking, but still attractive with perfect skin, etc. because he’s a vampire.
I read somewhere Stephenie Meyer explained it – she said if someone is ugly or average when human they would still be good looking when turned to a vampire, but not as good looking a someone who was already attractive when alive. If someone was already good looking, becoming a vampire would make them gorgeous.

The conversion from human to vampire gives you beauty to attract prey. How is it supposed to know that you won’t hunt humans.
They didn’t all nessisarily start out gorgeous they just became gorgeous after being changed.

The practical reason is that the author wants the characters to appeal to young readers and making the vampires desirable is a good way to do that; the reader can imagine herself as the beautiful girl, and she can dream about the handsome boys. It’s the same reason characters in any romance book are always stunningly beautiful or handsome.

since they do not follow a traditional vampire diet has no effect on their beauty. they are still vampires, and vampires are so beautiful and have such good smells to attract their prey. also, the people carlisle transformed were all normal and with the venom reaching out to various body part, they change. your features all change and everything is enhanced to create that gorgeous image.

it doesnt matter whether they feed on human blood or not. their insticts tell them to prey on humans. vampires like edwards gang just taught themselves self control. and they’re features are enhanced during the transformation so even the plainest person, lets say bella for instance, will become amazingly beautiful.

    It comes with the territory.
Being a vampire mean you’re prettier than you were a human. Carlisle didn’t pick them because they were pretty, but because they were dying and he could save them.

Its funny how the modern mythos on vampires has portrayed them as being all beautiful. Nosferatu sure as hell wasn’t.
